Training Course:
Quality Assurance for Radioactive Material Packaging
The purpose of the course is to provide QA training and practical experience for DOE personnel and contractors who are required to develop and implement a QA plan or prepare the QA chapter of a Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (SARP) for the control of design, fabrication, assembly, testing, maintenance, repair, modification, and use of the packaging. The course begins with instructions concerning basic QA principles and concepts, and quickly advances to packaging-specific information. The training course will review applicable QA requirements from DOE Orders, federal regulations, and NRC Regulatory Guides. The course includes both lecture and actual problem-solving sessions, applying a graded approach to selected QA elements from Subpart H of 10 CFR Part 71. Participants will gain experience from the development of a partial packaging-specific QA chapter for a SARP by selecting appropriate QA requirements from Subpart H of 10 CFR Part 71 and ASME NQA-1 for Type B and fissile material packaging.
The QA Training Course will be conducted June 25-27, 2013.
